Have you had a dinner where everyone brings something and everyone hopes that no one brings something that is the same? Well, this is the same thing that is the end of 1 Corinthians 14. In the contemporary church, one member is functionning while the others remain limp. This is not the way it is supposed to be. Every body is supposed to function in the body of Christ. Notice that God doesn't only mention 'pastor' as the only gift in the Bible. He meant every one to participate. Every member is supposed to present anything and everything from the Lord, but the Lord must remain central. It should not be Sundays and Wednesdays only, but these meetings in an ekklesia should be a way of life. God should be a way of life because we belong to Him. If there is anything that God gives us, we should bring it to the group so that it edifies the group. This is not run by the 'five-fold ministry'. Every one participates and everyone has the authority to participate because Christ can use any person and when we shut out any person or persons, we miss out on things that Christ has for us. So, if you're at a potluck, make sure you try each meal that everyone has presented!
