Faith and Works

This page comes from John 3:16, James 2, and Revelation 3:1-6.

We are all familiar with John 3:16 which says that if anyone has faith (or believes) in Jesus Christ will not perish, but have everlating faith. And you may have also heard of the scripture in Habukkuk that says that the just shall live by faith. James 2 speaks of faith and works and I will briefly speak on the church of Sardis, which is in Revelation 3:1-6.

Now, we are guaranteed the gift of God, which is everlasting life, if we have faith in Jesus Christ, right? That's true, but I will talk about something else, that may go with it.

Now, I will talk about faith and works, which is James 2. If you have faith, by itself, which can include just believing, your faith is nothing, because it is not bearing fruit and no good deeds are coming from it. I heard someone say in a resource that 'I am protected by the grace of Jesus Christ, no matter I do'. Well, I believe that your faith must bear fruit and it must have good deeds, because faith without deeds is dead faith.

What if you have only works. Read Ephesians 2:8-9.. Works alone is simply legalism. Legalism alone does not save. It is like trying to climb a ladder to get to God. You do not need to climb a ladder to get to God. God does all the work for you. All you have to do is trust.

You need faith and works together. Without one or the other, your faith will suffer. Your faith must produce fruit and have good deads to be alive and it can't be works alone because works doesn't save.
